Dr Peter Magee is the Director of Zayed National Museum, the national museum of the United Arab Emirates. An archaeologist and heritage expert with over 30 years of experience, he has led numerous research projects across the UAE and the wider Middle East. Prior to joining the museum, he served as Professor and Chair of Classical and Near Eastern Archaeology at Bryn Mawr College in the U.S. and has held academic positions in Belgium and Australia.
Dr Magee has authored over 70 scholarly publications on the history and archaeology of the Arabian Gulf, with work featured in leading journals such as Current Anthropology, Antiquity, and The American Journal of Archaeology. His book The Archaeology of Prehistoric Arabia (2014) received wide acclaim, and he has been recognised with multiple awards, including the Sheikh Mubarak bin Mohamed Award for his contributions to
UAE heritage. He is also a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries and currently serves as Chair of the International Association for the Study of Arabia.
